A Tribute to our Men and Women in the Armed Forces

This is a special tribute to our veterans and all of the men and women serving in the Armed Forces. They are and always have been the pillars that support the freedoms that we so cherish–our “unsung” heroes deserving of our respect and honor.

These fine people have put their personal lives on the back burner for the greater good of our country.  Their travels take them away from their home and family to foreign countries where they are oftentimes met with anything but welcoming arms.  They are put in harm’s way–so that we can be safe.  They choose to sacrifice the needs in their lives–so that we can enjoy ours.

They put aside their fears and fight our battles–so we don’t have to. They offer up their lives for ours.

These honored men and women don’t get to choose their travel destination—that decision is made for them.  Many are shipped off to foreign countries where they are forced to live in difficult conditions.  They leave behind friends and family for long periods of time.  That cannot be easy for them or their families.

We never want to take our freedoms for granted, or the men and women who fight valiantly to uphold them. Both can be lost.

So let us all stand together and honor those who have or are serving in the Armed Forces, as well as their families.  Let us show them our support and our undying appreciation.

And on a personal note…a special thank you to my father, grandfather, and uncle who served overseas in wars gone by, and to Phil, a member of our family who recently served overseas and is currently serving in the U.S.
